Book Cover

In her book The Conscious Kingdom, Tina Wilcox shares her love of animals and her steadfast belief we have more in common with them than not. Using humanely procured taxidermy, period costumes, and incredible sets Tina transforms and humanizes 38 creatures through fantastical tales—capturing both the brilliance and flaws of all manner of human beings. She chronicles their lives on Earth, assigning them families, talents, professions, and personalities from successful and sensible, to hilarious and a tiny bit bawdy. Her hope is by “humanizing” these animals, albeit fiction, she can help readers see them in a different light and ignite conversation about how we treat these amazing creatures we share our world with.

WHAT IF ANIMALS LIVED JUST LIKE HUMANS?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Tina Wilcox is an animal lover and works passionately to protect and ensure the humane treatment of animals. Tina maintains that it is our responsibility as humans, regardless of age, to treat animals with compassion and benevolence. She believes that education in the humane treatment of animals is imperative, and needs to begin at a very young age to break the cycle of cruelty.

Tina has traveled over the years to flea markets, street markets, and antique fairs around the world. Her studio is filled with years of fabulous finds from these trips. From Elizabethan, Edwardian, and Victorian-era textiles, jewelry parts, and curiosities, her home is like visiting a delightfully bizarre, but meticulously curated museum. With pieces from her collections, Tina created each of the stories, costumes, photo sets, props, and styling for the book.
